Performed hundreds of forensic engineering investigations for projects related to storm damage (hail, wind, tornado, hurricane, lightning, and flood), moisture intrusion, construction defects, structural roof failures (collapses and blow‐offs), and building envelope failures.
Forensic investigations of roofs have included residential, commercial, industrial, retail, school, and church properties including the following types of roofs: asphalt composition shingles, concrete and clay tiles, wood shakes and shingles, aluminum shingles, fiber cement (and asbestos) shingles, slate, synthetic slate, stone‐coated steel shingles, built‐up roofing (BUR), modified‐bitumen, thermoplastic polyolefin (TPO), polyvinyl chloride (PVC), spray polyurethane foam (SPF), ethylene propylene diene terpolymer (EPDM), and metal panels (R‐panels, standing seam).
Designated as an expert witness and provided deposition testimony for cases involving storm damage property claims, construction defect claims, and bad faith litigation.
Served as an appraiser for clients when an appraisal clause has been invoked to settle an insurance payment dispute.
Performed roof condition assessments (RCA) as part of due diligence for prospective buyers of commercial properties. These assessments included identifying potential roof installation issues, age‐related deterioration, estimated remaining useful life (RUL), and providing capital needs expectations.
Prepared cost estimates for roof repairs/replacement.
Performed roof moisture surveys including the use of infrared (IR) imaging.
Inspected projects for applicable building code and energy code compliance.
